How to Set Price Alerts on Binance — Stop Watching Charts All Day

· ~ 13 min read · CryptoPort Editorial

Staring at Charts Is the Biggest Waste of Time

The crypto market runs around the clock — seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. If you want to stay on top of every price movement, that means staring at a screen non-stop — which is obviously unrealistic and unhealthy.

The good news is Binance offers a price alert feature. You can set a target price, and when the market hits that level, the system automatically notifies you. Once set up, you can go about your day — eat, sleep, and let the system do the chart-watching for you.

Setting Up Price Alerts on the Binance App

Method 1: From the Market Page

  1. Open the Binance App and go to the "Markets" page
  2. Find the coin you're interested in (e.g., BTC) and tap to enter its detail page
  3. Above the price chart, find the bell icon (or "Alert" button) and tap it
  4. Set your target price and alert conditions
  5. Confirm and save

Method 2: From the Trading Page

  1. Go to a specific trading pair's page (e.g., BTC/USDT)
  2. Find the bell icon in the candlestick chart area
  3. Tap to enter price alert settings
  4. Enter the target price and choose the alert method
  5. Save

Available Conditions

  • Price crosses above: Alerts you when the price rises from below a certain level to above it. Useful when you want to sell at a profit target
  • Price crosses below: Alerts you when the price drops from above a certain level to below it. Useful when you want to buy the dip
  • Percentage change: Alerts you when a coin's price moves up or down by more than a certain percentage within a given timeframe. Useful for catching unusual volatility

Alert Methods

The Binance App supports the following notification methods:

  • App push notifications: The most immediate — your phone displays a notification directly
  • Email notifications: Good for users who want to keep records
  • SMS notifications: Available in certain regions

At minimum, enable App push notifications. To ensure you receive them, allow Binance to send notifications in your phone's system settings and avoid clearing Binance from background processes.

Setting Price Alerts on the Web

How To

  1. Log in to Binance web and go to the spot trading page
  2. Select your trading pair of interest
  3. Find the bell icon in the candlestick chart toolbar
  4. Click to set the target price and conditions
  5. Save

Web Limitations

Web price alerts are primarily sent via email. If you close your browser, you won't receive in-page pop-up alerts. So if you want to receive alerts anytime, anywhere, the App is the better choice.

Practical Alert Strategies

Strategy 1: Buy Alert

You're bullish on BTC but think the current price is too high. You want to buy if it drops to a certain level. Set a "crosses below" alert — for example, if BTC is currently at 62,000 USDT, set an alert at 59,000 USDT. When notified, you can decide whether to place a buy order.

Even better: set the alert and simultaneously place a limit buy order at 59,000. That way, even if you can't act when the alert arrives, the limit order will execute automatically.

Strategy 2: Take-Profit Alert

You bought BTC at 60,000 USDT and your target is to sell at 70,000. Set a "crosses above 70,000" alert. When notified, decide whether to sell all or just a portion.

Strategy 3: Stop-Loss Alert

You're worried about a significant price drop after buying. Set a "crosses below 57,000" alert (roughly 5% below your entry). When notified, assess whether you need to cut your losses.

Strategy 4: Unusual Volatility Alert

Set a "more than 5% change within 1 hour" alert. This helps you catch sudden market moves — possibly triggered by major positive or negative news.

Monitor Multiple Coins Simultaneously

You don't have to watch just one coin. You can set price alerts for BTC, ETH, SOL, and many other coins simultaneously. Each coin can have multiple alerts at different price levels.

For example, you could configure:

  • BTC: Alert below 58,000 (consider buying) and above 70,000 (consider selling)
  • ETH: Alert below 3,200 (consider buying) and above 4,000 (consider selling)
  • BNB: Alert below 550 (consider buying)

With this setup, you have comprehensive monitoring of key price levels across the market, with no need to constantly open the App.

Price Alerts vs. Automated Trading

A price alert only notifies you — "the price has reached a level you care about" — but doesn't automatically trade for you. You still need to manually decide whether to act after receiving the alert.

If you want automatic execution at a certain price, use a limit order instead of a price alert. Of course, both can be used together: limit orders handle automatic execution while price alerts keep you informed of market movements.

Troubleshooting: Making Sure You Receive Alerts

Some users report setting alerts but never receiving notifications. This is usually caused by:

  1. Phone notification permissions are turned off — Check Binance App notification permissions in your phone settings
  2. App cleared from background — Some Android phones' battery-saving features kill background apps. Add Binance to the whitelist
  3. Email notifications went to spam — Check your email's spam folder
  4. Alert expired — Some price alerts have an expiry period and need to be re-set

Download the App to Get Started

Price alerts are one of the Binance App's core practical features. If you haven't installed the App yet, download the latest version through Binance official. After installing, log into your account (if you don't have one yet, sign up through Binance official first), and you can start setting price alerts for the coins you follow.

Summary

Price alerts are a tool every trader should take advantage of. They shift you from "watching charts yourself" to "letting the system watch for you" — you won't miss key prices, and you won't waste hours staring at the market. Spend five minutes setting up your alert strategy, then go live your life — that's what healthy trading looks like.
