Why Keep the App on the Latest Version
Binance App releases new versions periodically, including security patches, bug fixes, new features, and performance improvements. Using an outdated version may result in interface glitches, missing features, or even security vulnerabilities. In some cases, if your version is too old, the App may force you to update before you can continue using it.
Staying updated is one of the most basic habits for using the Binance App.
How to Know When There's a New Version
In-App Prompt
When a new version is available, the Binance App typically shows an update prompt upon opening, detailing the differences between your current version and the latest one, along with what's new. For critical security updates, a mandatory update prompt may appear that must be completed before you can proceed.
Manual Check
You can also proactively check for updates. Within the App, go to "Settings" or "About" — there's usually a "Check for Updates" button. Tap it and the system will tell you whether you're on the latest version.
Android Update Methods
Method 1: Download the Latest APK from the Website
The most common update method for Android users. Visit the download page through Binance official and download the latest APK package. Once downloaded, open it to install — the system will automatically overwrite the old version.
An over-the-top installation won't delete your login status, settings, or preferences. After the update, open the App and everything will be as before.
Method 2: In-App Update
If the App shows an update prompt, tap the update button in the prompt. The App may automatically download the new version or redirect you to the download page. Just follow the prompts.
Method 3: Google Play Update
If your Binance App was installed from Google Play, search for Binance in Google Play — if an update is available, you'll see an "Update" button. You can also check for updatable apps under "My apps & games."
Setting Up Auto-Updates
If using Google Play, you can enable automatic updates in the Play Store settings. New versions will be automatically downloaded and installed in the background without manual intervention.
For APK-installed users, automatic updates aren't available. You'll need to manually download new versions each time. Consider enabling update notification reminders in the App so you know as soon as a new version drops.
iPhone Update Methods
Method 1: App Store Update
Open the App Store and switch to the overseas Apple ID used to download Binance. Go to your account page and scroll down to see the list of apps with available updates. If Binance has an update, tap the update button.
Note: Since Binance was downloaded using an overseas Apple ID, you must be logged in with the same ID to update. If you're currently on a mainland China Apple ID, switch first.
Method 2: Enable Auto-Updates
In iPhone "Settings" > "App Store," enable the "App Updates" option. The system will automatically download and install available updates. The prerequisite is that you're logged in with the same overseas Apple ID used to download Binance.
What to Watch During Updates
Ensure a Stable Network
Don't switch networks or enter areas with poor signal (like elevators) during the update. Interrupted downloads may result in incomplete installation packages requiring re-download.
Don't Trade During Updates
While updates typically take just a few minutes, the App is unusable during this time. If you have active trades or pending orders, check whether they need attention before updating. That said, your pending orders and positions won't be affected by an App update — they're stored on the servers.
Check Settings After Updating
In rare cases, major version updates may reset certain settings. After updating, do a quick check to ensure language, push notifications, BNB fee deduction, and other important settings are still active.
If Problems Occur After Updating
If the App behaves abnormally after updating — crashing, slow loading, or function issues — try clearing the cache and restarting the App. If the problem persists, it may be a bug in the new version. Log in to Binance official on the web version to check if other users have reported the same issue, or contact live support for help.
Checking Your Version Number
To confirm which version you're running, go to "Settings" > "About" within the App. Compare this version number with the latest version announced on Binance's official website or social media to see if you're up to date.
Staying updated is a simple but important habit. Each update takes just a few minutes yet ensures you always have the best experience and highest security protection.
Update Frequency Reference
Binance typically releases minor version updates every one to two weeks and larger updates every one to two months. Minor updates mainly fix bugs and optimize performance, while major updates may introduce new features or interface changes.
Not every update needs to be installed immediately. If it's just a minor bug fix, delaying a few days is fine. But for security-related urgent updates, complete them as soon as possible. The in-app update prompt usually explains the update's content and importance — use that to guide your decision.
Back Up Your Verification Info
Before every update, confirm that you can remember or access your login password and two-factor authentication method. While normal updates won't affect your login status, if something unexpected happens during the update and you need to re-login, you'll need to pass identity verification smoothly. Keeping your password manager and Google Authenticator backup codes readily accessible is a good habit for all situations.
