Binance App Draining Your Battery? Turn Off These Settings

· ~ 14 min read · CryptoPort Editorial

Why Binance Uses More Battery Than Most Apps

After installing Binance, you notice your phone's battery drains noticeably faster. Some users find that even without opening Binance, it still ranks near the top in background power consumption. What's going on?

The core reason is that Binance, as a real-time trading platform, inherently consumes more resources than typical apps. Market data needs constant updating — prices change every second, requiring continuous server connections to pull the latest data. Price alerts and push notifications need persistent connections running even when you've switched to another app. On top of that, real-time chart rendering on the market pages demands constant use of your phone's processor and graphics chip, naturally keeping power consumption high.

The good news is that most of Binance's power-hungry behaviors can be controlled through settings adjustments. Here are several proven battery-saving tips that will make a noticeable difference.

Tip 1: Disable Real-Time Market Push Notifications

This is the biggest battery culprit and the optimization with the most immediate results. Binance has multiple types of push notifications enabled by default, with price alerts and market movement notifications being the most power-hungry. These features require the app to continuously listen for data from servers in the background, waking the screen and processor for every notification. If you've set price alerts for multiple coins, background communication becomes even more frequent.

To disable: go to Binance settings, find "Notification Management" or "Push Settings," and turn off "Price Alerts" and "Market Movement Notifications." If you're worried about missing important information, keep only "Trade Execution Notifications" and "Security Alert Notifications." The former notifies you when your orders fill, the latter alerts you to account anomalies — these are the only messages that truly need to be received promptly. For market prices, just open the app manually when you need to check.

Many users report that background power consumption drops by half or more after disabling market push notifications.

Tip 2: Restrict Background Activity

Even with push notifications turned off, Binance may still maintain background network connections and data syncing. Restricting its background activity at the system level can further reduce power consumption.

On Android, go to System Settings > "Battery" or "Battery Optimization," find the Binance app, and set its battery usage mode to "Optimized" or "Restrict background activity." The interface may vary slightly by brand, but the approach is the same. After this setting, the system will actively limit Binance's background data refreshes when you switch to other apps or lock the screen.

On iPhone, go to Settings > "General" > "Background App Refresh" and turn off background refresh for Binance. While iOS is already fairly strict about background management, Binance's persistent connection mechanism can sometimes bypass these restrictions, so manual disabling is safer.

Note that restricting background activity may cause some delay in receiving trade-related push notifications. If you have pending limit orders you need to monitor, temporarily lift the restriction.

Tip 3: Reduce Chart Refresh Rate and Visual Effects

Binance's market charts refresh in real-time by default, redrawing with every price change. Unless you're doing ultra-short-term scalping, you don't need millisecond-level refresh rates. In the market settings, if there's an option to adjust the refresh interval, change it from "real-time" to "refresh every few seconds."

Additionally, Binance's homepage often features promotional banners, animated images, and carousel ads. Every frame of these flashy visual elements consumes graphics processing resources. If the app settings offer a "Lite Mode" or "Simplified Homepage" option, enable it. Reducing dynamic content not only saves battery but also makes the app more responsive.

Tip 4: Fully Close the App After Use

Many people just press the back or home button after using Binance, leaving it in the background task list. The app continues occupying memory and maintaining network connections, steadily consuming power.

Get into the habit of swiping Binance away from the recent apps list to fully close it after each use. When you need it again, it only takes a few seconds to reload. This is much more efficient than letting it silently drain your battery in the background.

Tip 5: Keep the App Updated

With each version update, Binance's development team optimizes performance and power consumption. If you're still using a version from months ago, issues causing abnormal battery drain may already be fixed in newer releases.

Download the latest Binance version via Binance official, or check for updates in your app store. Before updating, make sure your Google Authenticator and other two-factor authentication tools are working properly, as you may need to re-verify after the update.

Things to Keep in Mind After Adjustments

After making all the above adjustments, Binance's power consumption should be comparable to most regular apps. But there are a few things to be aware of:

With notifications disabled, you won't receive price movement alerts anymore. If you have important price targets to monitor, you can use limit orders or take-profit/stop-loss orders instead — the system will execute them automatically without you needing to watch.

With restricted background activity, security notifications may also be slightly delayed. If your account security is already well-configured (Google Authenticator enabled, anti-phishing code set, etc.), this delay shouldn't be a concern.

For most regular users, these optimizations won't affect normal trading or user experience. If you're a high-frequency day trader who needs real-time market watching, consider only implementing Tips 4 and 5 while keeping market push notifications on.

Users who need to register an account or re-download the app can access the latest official link through Binance official. With the right settings and good usage habits, you'll never have to sacrifice half a day's battery just to check the market.
